Tips for freshers

Explore what you would want to pursue after your graduation.  In the first year, there is ample time to explore different paths. If you are interested in  branch change , then focusing solely on it might be a good option too. CPI matters a lot.  You should have a CPI of at least 8. Whatever happens, you should not let it go below 8, and in the worse case below 7. It's not like this should be your goal for the four years here, but just that you should maintain a good CPI, it helps you a LOT. Attend classes and tutorials.  It becomes a lot easier to get a good CPI if you are regular to classes. Sometimes a professor may suddenly fail students having attendance below 75% to create an example for the future batches, so it's always better to attend classes even after knowing professors past behavior. Play a sport or join a club or one of the fests . Explore different clubs but join only one, this is my opinion, you are free to decide for yourself. Join a fest, if you like it, t

Hotspot in Windows using Command line

This will help you use the in-built hotspot of Windows without any additional software. Follow the guide below.

  1. Wi-Fi should be turned on
  2. Open command prompt using Run: Press Windows Key + R and type in cmd in the Run dialogue box and hit enter

  3. In command prompt Window, type the following command to set the Hotspot settings,

    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=<wifiName> key=<password>
If everything goes fine your cmd will look something like this(without the last command, we will come to that).

  4. Finally, to start your hotspot type the following command, netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Now the hotspot has been started but it needs to be given internet connection.
  5. To give the hotspot internet connection, go to Network Connections and then to Change Adapter Settings.
To go to Network Connections, right click on the start button on the taskbar and then click on Network Connections.

Once there, you would need to click on adapter settings. Choose your active Internet connection. If you are using internet through LAN cable, then you would need to find the one called Ethernet. Right click on it, select properties and then in Sharing tab select the checkbox reading
Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection

And in the dropdown select your Hotspot connection, to find your hotspot connection just see through the Network connections, one of them will have your hotspot name, in my case it is
    Local Area Connection* 15.
  6. Now you have a fully functional hotspot.
  7. In case you would like to share your VPN connection you will have to choose the TAP adapter network connection, in my case it is Ethernet 2(In step 5).
  8. To stop the hotspot you may type in the following command in cmd
     netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
  9. Finally, you will be able to see your hotpsot under the network connections.
